Vale da Telha

The Vale da Telha development was started over 20 years ago. Currently there are approx. 1,500 villas built on a designated development site within the park. Strict building regulations and large plots help to maintain a green and open feel to the development.
Vale da Telha is served by a small number of bars and restaurants plus a few shops, The town of Aljezur provides a daily market offering fresh produce including fresh fish, flowers and a host of locally grown vegetables. There are a range of banks, a post office, small supermarkets and shops plus local government offices and a good choice of restaurants.

Costa Vicentina National Park

The Costa Vicentina park covers 80 kilometers of the Western Atlantic coast. It is a protected area and it is the natural habitat for almost 100 species of wild flowers which have adapted to life in a salt laden, sun scorched atmosphere. The land ranges from soft sand dunes to rocky outcrops. Animals roaming include foxes, wild boar, rabbits and the area has many species of birds.

Aljezur

The river that divides Aljezur was once navigable but today is just picturesque in spring and autumn and dry in summer. The 'Old Town' is built on a hill that leads up to the castle. The castle was built by the Moors in the 10th Centuary. There are an array of small museums and galleries dotted along the narrow winding medieval streets & alleyways leading up to the castle.

Crossing the river past the local 'strip faming area' leads to the 'New Town'. This is dominated by the new Church 'Igreja Nova' which has given its name to this part of the town. A colourful gypsy monthly market takes place at the top of the new town on the third Monday of each month.
